Microsoft is making its last year’s Surface Laptop and the Surface Book 2 a bit more reasonable by launching a more affordable variant for both. Since these models come at low costs, their specifications have been slightly reduced. These variants are available in the US.
The Microsoft Surface laptop, which came out in May last year, had a starting price of $999. But now, the laptop can be bought starting $799. The new variant sports Intel Core m3 processor along with Intel HD Graphics 615, 4GB RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage.
The Surface Book 2, which came out in October last year, has a new version. This is also its 8th variant. The product previously had a base price of $1,499 and now the model costs $1,199. It has the same specifications as the $1499 product but with reduced inbuilt storage of 128GB.
The Satya Nadella-led tech giant recently affirmed that it will be delivering the Surface Book 2 laptop to India. The system will enter the market later this year.
This will include both 13-inch and 15-inch screen versions.
“Later in the year, Surface Book 2 13″ and 15″ will roll out to Bahrain, China, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Korea, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates,” told the company.
The Surface Book 2 can be used in four models – Laptop mode, Studio Mode, Tablet mode and View mode. All the above models come with Microsoft’s ‘PixelSense’ displays.
The 13.5-inch screen models come with 3000 x 2000 quality display, while the 15-inch models sport 3240 x 2160 quality display.
They all support two full-size USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, 3.5mm earphone jack, USB Type-C post, 2 Surface Connect ports and an SD Card reader.
Other capabilities supported are Windows Hello face verification front-facing 5MP camera. At the back, there is an 8MP camera.
Customers also get front-facing Dolby Sound speakers.
In terms of battery, the Surface Book 2 13-inch models are ranked to run for up to 17 hours of video playback, which is the same for 15-inch versions.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is a value for money option
Xiaomi has revealed the successor of its best-selling smartphone in India, Redmi Note 4. Redmi Note 5 is the smartphone which comes at a starting cost of Rs 9,999. The device will go on sale starting February 22. The handset will be available online on Flipkart and Mi.com and offline on all the Mi stores.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is the same smartphone that released in China as Redmi 5 Plus. The handset comes with a 5.99-inch full-screen display. It is the first affordable smartphone from Xiaomi to come with a bezel-less screen. The product features a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with 1080×2160 pixel quality and 18:9 aspect ratio. The handset is a great choice for those who want to see the full-screen display and don’t want to invest a lot. During our limited time with the Note 5, we discovered the display to be quite bright and distinct.
The handset runs Android 7.0 Nougat os and is topped with the company’s own MIUI 9. It offers all the standard applications found in other Xiaomi smartphones. Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. As per our initial opinions, the smartphone conducted well and there was no noticeable lag.
It comes in two choices — 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. In terms of camera capabilities, the Note 5 comes with a 12MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front shooter with selfie flash. The camera samples also turned out to be great and the selfies taken in low-light were also fine.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is supported by a 4,000 mAh battery and it offers all the common connectivity options. The company promises that the smartphone can deliver a days battery backup on a single charge but you will have to wait for our complete evaluation to know that.
As per our initial opinions, we found the phone to be good value for money.
These 5 new features to Google Maps are coming soon…
Google Maps can be known as the search giant’s greatest success stories. With over a billion users globally, the platform is constantly increasing and is being examined with some features. Although listing all of them is not yet possible, Android seems to have uncovered some of them in an apk teardown of the Google Maps version 9.71 beta. It is not for sure if all these features will be coming to your devices. However, there is a possibility.
There are few features are listed as below-
- ‘Screenshot’ button replaced ‘Share button’.– In the apk app teardown, the report discovered Google Maps to change a location’s ‘Share’ button with a ‘Screenshot’ button. It has also begun showing up for some customers. It is not for sure if the feature will execute the same function or not. However, the purpose of it could be similar.
- Battery status is shown during location sharing. – It has been also found that while giving your location with someone, Google Maps will also display your device battery status to the other member so they know what time will you stay in contact.
- Shortcuts to favourite destinations. – In addition to the above-mentioned features, Google Maps may soon let you set shortcuts or recommended routes to a station. These may be noticeable to other individuals using the same metro station as well.
- Arrival Notification.– While Google Maps already had the alternative to tell navigation routes through notifications, the update could also give customers the notice, reminding them of their arrival and actual time.
- Trips sharing with others.– Finally, the app’s apk teardown shows it to include a feature wherein users can talk about their trips. If you are on your way to a location or have reached already.
