Meltdown and Spectre virus shattered Internet World

Meltdown and Spectre manipulate critical weaknesses in modern processors. These hardware weaknesses allow programs to steal data which is presently processed on the computer. When programs are typically not allowed to read data from other programs, a malicious method can exploit Meltdown and Spectre to get hold of secrets stored in the memory of other running programs. This might include your passwords stored in a password manager or browser, your personal images, emails, instantaneous messages and even business-critical documents.

Meltdown smashes the most essential privacy between user applications and the operating system. Meltdown attack enables a program to access the memory, and thus also the secrets, of other programs and the operating system.

If your computer has a insecure processor and runs an unpatched operating system, it is not safe to work with delicate information without the possibility of leaking the information. This is applicable both to personal computers as well as cloud system.

Spectre destroys the isolation between different applications. It enables an attacker to trick error-free programs, which follow best methods, into leaking their secrets. In fact, the security checks of said best practices actually raise the attack surface and may make applications more sensitive to Spectre

Spectre is harder to exploit than Meltdown, but it is also more complicated to reduce.
